Girl Scouts: Gold Award

I completed my Gold Award during my senior year in high school. I worked with Isabel's House to create a cookbook for volunteers of creative healthy kid friendly meals. I also volunteered to help watch the children there, clean rooms, and make food.
I was touched by many of the children that I came into contact with. Sometimes they would be there for multiple days when I volunteered and started knowing me by name. It was great to see a place like Isabel's House in our community to help families get back on their feet and still take care of their kids.
Boys & Girls Club of Story County
While I was a peer mentor, the group of students I mentored partnered up withThe Boys and Girls Club of Story County to create activities to encourage those who came to pursue STEM educations. We volunteered every other week for the fall semester.
I assisted in organizing activities that catered to a wide range of ages that were both educational and fun. I shared my story of how I came to be in a STEM major with those I talked to and taught my mentees leadership skills in managing the activities.
